This is the problem with tumblr’s censorship of self-harm and pro-anorexia blogs. These blogs aren’t run by vengeful assholes who just want to make people (mostly teenage girls) feel bad about themselves. These blogs are legitimate, if completely misguided, communities of people who feel that they don’t fit in anywhere in the real world. A lot of these people clearly aren’t getting support from “real” people, people they speak with and interact with face to face every day, so they seek it online. By cutting off the only support system many people with self-harm blogs have, I feel like tumblr might be making the problem worse. 

Anyway, none of this is to say that anorexia, eating disorders, or self-harm are in any way healthy topics to create a relationship over. They’re not. But, they are indicative of deeper psychological problems that tumblr does not address simply instituting a blanket statement. 

tl;dr? Yeah, encouraging eating disorders is bad, but this completely ignores the reality of the situation.
